NGSC - FAQs |

The NGSC has purchased and installed a Covaris LE220 Focused-ultrasonicator to support high-throughput library preparation.
The LE220 is a high-throughput sonicator that can do automated sonication of up to 96 samples in a plate format. It uses a line-focus to sonicates 8 samples at a time, so it is quite fast. Also, there is no probe so no sample-to-sample contamination and nothing to change between samples.
The LE220 has applications for genomic DNA or cDNA fragmentation as well as chromatin shearing for ChIP-Seq and FFPE sample extraction.
Pricing has yet to be determined. Usage will require training and perhaps presence of NGSC staff.
Also, the LE220 has a number of specialized labware and kits which have to be ordered prior to use.
Please contact us if you are intested in using the LE220.
